Solomon Grundy,

Born on a Monday,

Christened on Tuesday,

Married on Wednesday,

Took ill on Thursday,

Grew worse on Friday,

Died on Saturday,

Buried on Sunday.

That was the end of

Solomon Grundy.

    2. Hey 'Joseph ISN'T Cool' shut your pie-hole 'R' & 'T' are right next to each other, it's called a typo. I feel sorry for idiots who need to make fun of others in order to give themselves joy.

  6. Oh yeah dude, I like pratuls version. I didn't know it was an old poem honestly, people re-write so much stuff into characters. Like Rumplestilskin (or whatever) when someone guessed his name he grabbed his leg and split himself in half. WTH?

  7. "In the original tale, Rumpelstiltskin spins straw into gold for a young girl who faces death unless she is able to perform the feat. In return, he asks for her first born child. She agrees – but when the day comes to hand over the kid, she can’t do it. Rumpelstiltskin tells her that he will let her off the bargain if she can guess his name. She overhears him singing his name by a fire and so she guesses it correctly. Rumpelstiltskin, furious, runs away, never to be seen again. But in the updated version, things are a little messier. Rumpelstiltskin is so angry that he drives his right foot deep into the ground. He then grabs his left leg and rips himself in half. Needless to say this kills him." Yeah, its like that. Needless to say you dont MESS with Rumpelstiltskin, or he will kill...himself, and you'll feel guilty. This is related because Rumpelstiltskin is also a nursery rhyme.

  9. Years ago, when I was in college, I wrote several short stories and submitted them for publishing in a school magazine. This one was never published, though my "Dead of Winter" tale was.

    Salome Grundy,
    Born on a Monday,
    Christened on Tuesday,
    Married on Wednesday,
    Gave birth on Thursday,
    Took ill on Friday,
    Died on Saturday,
    Buried on Sunday.
    Was this the end,
    Of Salome Grundy?

    Salome Grundy,
    Resurrected on Monday,
    Re-christened on Tuesday,
Found a new mate on Wednesday,
    Gave birth on Thursday,
    Took ill on Friday,
    Died on Saturday,
    Buried on Sunday.
    Never, and forever,
    The fate,
    Of Salome Grundy.

  10. Note: In the copyrighted redo of the Solomon Grundy nursery rhyme, Salome (name taken from Salome, the Daughter of Herod II and Herodias) was actually a poem about Lilith (or one of her many guises).

  11. I am soon to be 60 years old and every time I hear "Solome" or "Grundy" this poem automatically recites itself in my head !!! I learned this poem in public school in 1965 . . . . . I think I will be doing an altered art page on the image that also goes on in my head. I see an Ichabod Crane character in my head///probably an 1800 looking character ... thin and poorly goomed ..... When I smell Ivory Bar Soap I recall washing my hands in the bathroom sink located in the rear of every classroom. I went to Hope School, Hope, Rhode Island !!!!
